What did Queen think of The Cross?

I've always been curious to know what Queen, and particularly Freddie and John, thought of The Cross?

Freddie only liked Spike [& Roger]. He wasn't keen on the others.

Everybody in Queen was fully supportive of Roger's venture, as they all made contributions to Shove It, uncredited. But once it was up and running, it was Roger's baby. Just like Freddie's solo venture "Mr Bad Guy", which states on the sleevenotes "Thanks to Brian, Roger and John for not interfering". I guess you need that space when you're in a band with three other guys that long. And the Cross made no difference to Roger's contributions to Queen (indeed, he was probably at his writing peak around MBADTK, which is why he contributer very little to the Cross' second album).

I didn't know of that! Some specific contribution you are sure about?

Freddie sang "Heaven For Everyone" on the UK version of the CD, Brian played the solo on "Love Lies Bleeding" and John contributed some bass, although I'm not sure whether his bass parts to some songs were kept for the album, or simply used on the backing tracks Roger utilised when auditioning for the Cross.

I never knew that Brian played the Love Lies Bleeding guitar solo.. I remember thinking that it didn't sound like Clayton's usual style though!

I think John played Bass on Love Lies Bleeding also.
