I finally managed to get hold of Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know so can at last decide on my favourite! I think all the albums are great and seriously underrated, but my favourite would have to be Blue Rock, I just love it.

The 2nd and 3rd album are sure more rock-oriented, but at first I liked both "Blue rock" and "Shove it" more than "Mad, bad..."...maybe it sounded "nastier" to me (can't find another word!). Now I've come to reevaluate it, but still love "Blue rock" above anything! and surprisingly enough, the softer songs on it are the ones that make me go for it so much. It's also the album where Roger was less involved as a songwriter - well, one of my fave songs is actually his ("The also rans"), but this proves that the other were good at it too...Spike and "Baby it's alright"!!! It may be not an unusual song, but coupled with Roger's voice makes me go !!!!!

Its so nice to talk to people who love The Cross. My fovorite album I guess is Blue Rock but I love them all. Each one has good songs. The group was so underrated Roger was a great Front Man.

Hey funitmom! The Cross really were so underrated, I guess it's a shame really.

Hi Funitmom! Original nick . We seem to think all alike about the albums - all of them are very good, but "Blue rock" has got "something"...Who knows how a 4th album could have been like . I dedicated a corner to The Cross in my Queen forum, and know what? I called The Cross "an underrated band"! just like you said .

I don't dislike 'Shove It', it's the fact I overplayed it upon it's release. Nowadays I hardly ever play it. Same can be said about MAD:BAD & Dangerous To Know. Blue Rock on the other hand, I could play that again right now and still enjoy every moment of it.

I've never hers Blue Rock Every one tells me it 10 times better than the other albums. So out of Shove it and Mad Bad I’d have to go with Mad Bad... But I like them both!

I think all three albums are excellent, but each i a different way. Shove It is more like a Roger solo album, and then by stark contrast he wrote very little toward MBADTK, which is probably why is sounded rockier. Blue Rock is a superb CD though. Truly awesome.

SHOVE IT was simply ok...after a few runs through it, I was annoyed by it...but MB&DTK and BLUE ROCK seemed to be much more developed and written better. But of the three albums, I find that I keep going back to BLUE ROCK. Dont know why they decided to make it a German release only...thats too bad seeing as it was most definitely the best work from the band.

Well, the reason is quite simple...the previous albums had sold very little, and on the other hand The Cross were more popular in Germany than in any other country - mainly due to their tours - so the record company made that decision...It's really odd how those very records are now most wanted items! I wonder if Roger knows that, and in case, what he thinks about it...

Blue Rock came out in Germany and Japan, but nowhere else. A January 1992 release was scheduled for Blue Rock here in the UK, but after Freddie died, it was dropped because Roger obviously had other things to concentrate on. It was just bad timing really. "New Dark Ages" was released first in the groups biggest market, Germany, and did quite well, with a few TV appearences to help it along. Then the "Life Changes" single came out in Holland, and was withdrawn again. The album came out in Japan and Germany in September 1991, and then of course shortly after Freddie passed away. The plug was pulled on the 1992 UK release, and that was that. Roger played the Marquee gigs, and then Gosport in 1993, then went solo.
I paid a lot of money for my copy, but I think it was worth it. It's grown in value over the few years I've owned it (I used to have a bootleg version, which ironically I still play so as not to dirty the original!) and nowhere on the internet have I seen anybody selling it for less than I paid. Probably because the only people who have it nowadays are collectors, who know how rare it is.

Still haven't heard Blue Rock, so my vote goes to MB&DTK. Except for Foxey Lady - weak in my opinion.

A lot of Blue Rock was recorded not to far away from where I live - at Peter Gabriel's studio - Real World - in a place called Box, near Bath
